On Monday 26th March 2018, Women inmates at Luzira Prisons were excited by UBTEB staff who visited them with gifts for women and children. It was praise, prayer and worship alongside interaction with inmates and their children. During the visit UBTEB team was accompanied by the parish priest of St. Cyprian Parish Luzira Fr.Joseph Ssentomelo who preached good news to the women who carried their children.

The prisons chiefs headed by the Officer In-charge represented by Superintendent of Prisons Ms.Achan hailed UBTEB for the lovely gesture of partnering with Uganda Prisons by bringing items for women and children. “As Uganda Prisons Service we welcome and thank staff of UBTEB for choosing to bless women during this Easter season.” Achan stated. Dr.Nahamya Wilfred Deputy Executive Secretary of UBTEB thanked management of Uganda Prisons Service for allowing them to bless the women and children with donations of domestic items including 11 bags (550 Kgs) of sugar, 77 boxes (770 bars) of soap, 4 bags (100 kgs) of porridge, 9kgs of Baby porridge and 40 boxes (1,000 pcs) of Sanitary pads.

“As part of our Corporate Social responsibility, we are proud to extend this help to Women and children of Luzira prisons. As UBTEB we are delighted to partner with Uganda prisons service”. Dr.Nahamya stated. Nahamya encouraged female prisoners who are interested in formal Technical and Vocational education to enrol and sit for UBTEB Examinations.
During the interactions with staff of UBTEB some women expressed their desire to UBTEB officials to engage Uganda Prisons Services management so that they introduce formal Technical and Vocational education the way they do for inmates in secondary and those doing Diploma. The donations were mobilised by the staff, Board members of UBTEB championed by the UBTEB Staff Fellowship.
