UBTEB accredits over 100 training institutions
As a body mandated to accredit training institutions as examinations centers, UBTEB has carried out inspection for accreditation of various training institutions offering Business, Technical, Vocational and Specialized disciplines across the country.
The activity was carried out from 22-30th July 2019.
Among the key considerations for accreditation as a UBTEB examination center, the training institution is supposed to have a license/registration by Ministry of Education and Sports and offering accredited programmes developed by National Curriculum development centre or programmes accredited by National council for Higher education, professional staff, infrastructure and enrolment of the candidates.
The Board has observed a great increase in the training institutions offering Uganda Community Polytechnic Certificates, National certificates and Diploma programmes. Among the categories of accreditation, most of the training institutions were applying for additional programmes, others applied for full accreditation and for provisional accreditation. In line with the Board’s mandate, the Board will carry out scrutiny of the inspection reports and will make an appropriate decision to grant accreditation to the training institutions inspected with in the period of one month. "We are delighted to see more training institutions undertake BTVET programmes and specialized programmes in Uganda. This is in line with the goals of Skilling Uganda Strategy. As UBTEB, we shall ensure that there is quality assessment systems and procedures." Oyesigye Onesmus, Executive Secretary, UBTEB stated.
The Board appreciates all training institutions for following the regulations that guide the conduct and administration of competence based examinations by UBTEB in line with other relevant laws. The Board pledges commitment to offer quality services to all esteemed clients.
