TRAINING OF ACADEMIC REGISTRARS ON THE ASSESSMENT OF ACCOUNTING TECHNICIANS DIPLOMA (ATD)

In view of the need to fast track the implementation of the MOU with
ICPAU, UBTEB has called upon the accredited training institutions as
UBTEB examinations centres to present candidates for assessment for
the award of the ATD. In a meeting held with Registrars of various
training institutions on 13 th February 2024 at UBTEB Secretariat, the
Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye (CPA) called upon Registrars to
observe the stipulated assessment guidelines for ATD programme. He
further informed them that the Board has made progress to ensure
successful registration of candidates as well as conduct of examinations
for all candidates candidates registered for ATD examinations. “I am
Pleased to inform you that the Board has already issued circular for
registration and uploaded the ATD programme on the EIMS.” Oyesigye
stated.
The Registrars expressed gratitude to the Board for collaborating with
ICPAU to enhance professional growth and development of Accounting
Professionals in Uganda. “We applaud UBTEB for streamlining the
assessment and awards of various programmes in Uganda. This is best
for Ugandans.” Kalibala, Registrar of Royal Institute of Business and
Technical Education stated. The Manager Vocational Education
Ms.Nasaza Jalia thanked the Training Institutions that have already
admitted students to pursue ATD programme.

On the progression of candidates, the Registrars welcomed the idea of
smooth upward professional growth with room for exemptions. “On
completion of ATD, a student will enrol for CPA level II and on
completion of Level IV, the student will pursue a Bachelor of Science in
Accounting and Finance from Uganda Martyrs University-Nkozi”
Principal Officer, Business and Humanities Oyoo Peter stated. He further
encouraged the Registrars to admit all interested Ugandans to pursue
ATD in accordance with the minimum entry requirements.
