Under the Statutory Instrument 2009 No. 9, UBTEB is mandated to accredit training institutions as examination centres. This accreditation process aligns with other relevant legal provisions governing the conduct of assessments, training, and delivery of TVET-related programs.
As a result, Certificate and Diploma programmes offered by Kyambogo University will now be examined and awarded by UBTEB. Similarly, other institutions including Makerere University, Kampala International University, and Bugema University, among others, have also been accredited by UBTEB as examination centres.
UBTEB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye (CPA) expressed gratitude, during the accreditation at Kyambogo University today, “I take this opportunity to thank the management of Kyambogo University for their commitment to offering specialized programmes that will be examined and awarded by UBTEB, starting from the 2024/2025 academic year.”
Kyambogo University’s management has shown appreciation for UBTEB’s support and the strong working relationship in offering TVET Diploma programmes. During the university's accreditation inspection, UBTEB officials agreed to assist in sensitizing Kyambogo’s technical team on competence-based assessment procedures. "We appreciate the MOU with UBTEB to offer various Diploma TVET programmes that will be assessed and awarded by UBTEB," noted the university's management.
The Board shall examine and assess programs including the National Diploma in Building, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, among others. Currently, UBTEB oversees over 600 examination centres nationwide.
